Giuseppe Pomarico vi invita al seminario:

Unusual Coordination Motifs on a Corrole Platform

di Abhik Ghosh, The Arctic University of Norway,Tromsø, Norway

Il seminario sarà tenuto giovedì 29 maggio p.v. alle ore 10:30 in Sala Parravano, ed. Cannizzaro (CU014).

Abstract

The lecture will focus on the sterically constrained corrole ligand as a platform for less common coordination motifs. Key themes will include 5d transition metal corroles [1], corroles as binucleating ligands, metal-metal multiple-bonded metallocorrole dimers, and metallobiscorrole sandwich compounds, with emphasis on structural and stereochemical aspects.

Prof. Abhik Ghosh

Abhik Ghosh is an inorganic and theoretical chemist at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, the world’s northernmost inorganic chemistry. In the 1990s, he was one of the first to apply modern quantum chemical methods to bioinorganic systems, focusing on porphyrins and metalloporphyrins. His calculations helped debunk the ‘steric model’ of ligand discrimination by heme proteins, emphasizing instead the role of hydrogen bonding in the distal pocket. In recent years, he has developed the coordination chemistry of corroles and other porphyrin analogues, focusing on 5d transition metals.
