Biography
Pier Giorgio Schiavi graduated with honors in Industrial Chemistry on 17/07/2012 at Sapienza University of Rome defending the thesis: "Production of metallic cobalt nanoparticles by electrodeposition:effect of the operating parameters on morphology and size distribution ". In November 2013 he won a scholarship for the 29th PhD program of Sapienza University in Chemical Engineering and gets the PhD in February 2017 with the thesis: "Nanomaterials via electrochemical methods: Development of an electrochemical synthesis route for a cobalt-based catalyst to apply in ethanol steam reforming reaction". In June 2017 he received the award for the best doctoral thesis concerning industrial chemistry from Roma Sapienza Foundation. The research activity is focused on the production of metal nanostructures by electrochemical methods for catalytic/electrocatlytic purposes and the development of new closed-loop processes for the recycling of WEEE (lithium ion batteries, photovoltaic panels, printed circuit boards). During the last years he participate to several national (ORIFO - ottimizzazione di un trattamento zero-waste per il riciclaggio dei moduli fotovoltaici a fine vita; RECENT - Riduzione Elettrocatalitica di CO2 mediante Elettrodi Nanostrutturati) and EU ( DRONE - Direct pROduction of New Electrode materials from battery recycling; LIBAT - Recycling of primary Lithium Battery by mechanical and hydrometallurgical operations; PHOTOLIFE - Process and automated pilot plant for simultaneous and integral recycling of different kinds of photovoltaic panels; HYDROWEEE DEMO - Innovative Hydrometallurgical processes to recover Metals from WEEE including lamps and batteries Demonstration) co-funded projects
