Ricerca:
1) Polymer synthesis: Synthesis of segmented polyurethanes, polyesters, polyacrylamides and their chemical (FTIR, 1H-NMR), thermal (DSC, TGA), mechanical (Instron), dynamomechanics and surface wettability (dynamic contact angle) characterization for uses in the biomedical field.
2) Antimicrobial and antioxidant polymers: Synthesis of polymers with antimicrobial and antioxidant properties by polymerization of acrylic monomers containing quaternary amino groups or phenolic groups. Physico-chemical and biological characterization of the synthesized polymeric matrices. Application of antioxidant and antimicrobial polymeric derivatives in the biomedical field or in the food industry.
3) Polymeric or magnetic hybrid nanoparticles for drug controlled release : Development of nano-, micro- polymeric or magnetic hybrid particles for the controlled release of drugs, mainly for antimicrobial activity. Morphological and dimensional characterization of the preparations, magnetic properties, study of drug release kinetics and evaluation of biological activity.
4) Composites: Preparation and physico-chemical characterization of polymer-based composites and fillers (silica or Graphene oxide).
