Biografia
Prof. Antonella Piozzi. 1987 graduated with a degree in Industrial Chemistry at the Sapienza University of Rome. Also, in 1987 awarded an E.N.I. fellowship studying biomedical polymers, synthesis and characterization. In 1992 obtained a PhD in Chemical Science. In 1992 received a fellowship for the project Chimica Fine II, from the National Research Council. From 1993 to 2001 appointed as researcher in the Chemistry Department of the Sapienza University of Rome. 1997 to 2001 lectured for the courses Macromolecular Chemistry Laboratory and Industrial Chemistry Laboratory at the Sapienza University of Rome.In 2001 appointed Associate Professor of Industrial Chemistry at the Sapienza University of Rome. The research experience includes the fields of macromolecular chemistry, biomaterials and applied enzymology, namely studies in synthesis and physico-chemical characterization of polymers in industrial and medical applications. Authored over 142 scientific publications of which 77 were published in national and international scientific journals. These include, structural and morphological properties of synthetic polymers, the synthesis and characterization of biocompatible polyurethanes, drug controlled release and biocatalysts supported on polymeric matrices.
Ricerca
Area:
Chimica industriale
The current areas of interest are: i) Structural and morphological properties of synthetic polymers; ii) Synthesis and characterisation of polymers for biomedical applications. In particular, polyurethanes and vinyl polymers possessing haemocompatibility, antimicrobial and immunological properties; iii) Synthesis, characterisation and preparation of controlled release and tissue engineering systems based on biocompatible and/or biodegradable polymers; iv) Preparation and characterisation of biocatalysts supported on polymeric matrices.
