Heavy metal removal from polluted waters using biomasses

Line of research
In biosorption, non living biomasses of different kinds are used as low-cost sorbents for heavy metal removal as an alternative to activated carbon or ionic resins. Product development (physical and chemical treatments) is guided by mechanistic modelling, and process development (reactor configuration and operating conditions) is driven by dynamic simulations based on first principle's models.
