In the laboratory, formulations are prepared for the development of biocompatible polymer-based nanocompartmentalised systems (both commercial and synthetic polymers are used) for the delivery of pharmacologically active species such as drugs, nucleic acids and proteins, also in co-formulation with natural surfactants.
Both scattering techniques (DLS, SAXS, zeta potential) and spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis-NIR, steady-state and time resolved fluorescence) are used for their characterisation.
