Vyali Georgian Moldoveanu

Dottorando in Scienze chimiche XXXVIII Ciclo
Biography
Vyali Georgian Moldoveanu was born in Focsani (Romania) on 09/23/1997. In 2016 he obtained his high school diploma at "Antonio Labriola" scientific high school in Rome. In July 2019 he obtained the three-year degree in chemistry (class L-27) with honors from the "La Sapienza" university of Rome, presenting the thesis entitled "Analytical methods for the detection of explosive substances in the field of airport security" with supervisor Prof. Federico Marini. In 2022 he obtained his master's degree in chemistry (class LM-54) with a score of 109/110 at the University "La Sapienza" of Rome, presenting the thesis entitled "Multicomponent domino reaction of formation of iminium ion/decarboxylation/ 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition for the synthesis of spiropyrrolizidin-oxindoles" carried out in the laboratory of dr. Fabrice Vetica. In November 2022, having won the PhD scholarship in Chemical Sciences, he enrolled and currently carries out research in the field of organic chemistry under the supervision of Dr. Fabrice Vetica.
Research activity
Scientific area:
Organic chemistry
Research activity:
Application of optically pure small organic molecules, of natural or synthetic origin, as catalysts in homogeneous/heterogeneous phase in the stereoselective synthesis of organic compounds, predominantly heterocyclic, for possible applications in pharmaceutical chemistry Particular emphasis is placed on the optimization of multi-synthetic processes steps conducted in the same reaction environment using domino/one-pot reactions. These procedures, in fact, greatly simplify synthetic methodologies, reducing the number of intermediate work-up/purification steps, resulting in a lower environmental impact and optimizing synthesis costs. In these studies, attention is also paid to the atom-economy and to the definition of mechanistic aspects. Nano-organocatalytic stereoselective synthesis
