Associate professor
Biography
Danilo Dini (D.D.) obtained his Ph.D. in Materials Science at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Italy). D.D. held two postdoctoral positions in the Institut fur Physikalische Chemie of Max-Planck-Institut (Berlin, Germany), and in the Institut fur Organische Chemie of the University of Tuebingen (Germany). After being employed as researcher in the School of Chemical Sciences at DCU (Dublin, Ireland), D.D. joined the Dept. of Chemistry of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Italy). Main research interests are photoelectrochemistry, photophysics of conjugated molecular materials and solar energy conversion devices. D.D. has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed papers in international journals achieving an h-index of 42 at the beginning of 2021.
Research activity
Scientific area:
Physical chemistry
Research activity:
The research activity of D.D. is directed towards the evaluation and design of materials for the development of optical/ electrochemical devices such as electrochromic windows, current/potential based sensors, displays, high-power sources, light emitting electrochemical cells, nonlinear optical filters, optical limiters, solar energy conversion electrochemical cells and fuel generation from sunlight conversion. Since 2008 D.D. has undertaken the study of the electrochemistry of dye-sensitised semiconducting oxides with nanofeatures for the realization of photoelectrocatalytic devices based on the working principle of the Grätzel cell, which involve photoinduced reduction processes.
