Laboratory of elemental analysis by atomic spectroscopy

Responsabile:
Presentazione:

The laboratory carries out research and technical-scientific support in the elemental analysis of complex matrices of an environmental, food, and biological nature to develop reliable, rapid, low-cost analytical methods applicable in environmental monitoring studies, biomonitoring, and food quality and safety. The analytical determination for the qualitative and quantitative elemental characterization of the considered matrices is carried out through the use of different instrumental analytical techniques: inductively coupled plasma emission spectroscopy with optical and mass detection (ICP-OES and ICP-MS, respectively), graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy (GF-AAS), automatic solid/liquid mercury analyzer (AMA), and atomic fluorescence spectroscopy (AFS). The laboratory also has a microwave oven for sample preparation, an ion chromatograph, and an UV-VIS spectrophotometer.
