Research activity:
Research work in my lab is focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying development and ageing of the central nervous system, using in vitro cultures of mouse neural stem cells (NSCs). The following projects are currently underway: 1) Role of epigenetic modifications (histone methylation and acetylation) in NSC regulation during neural development. 2) Role of the extra-cellular protein Tsukushi in NSC proliferation and differentiation during brain development. 3) Genetic and epigenetic changes induced by ionizing radiation in NSCs. 4) Genetic and epigenetic changes underlying NSC ageing. Collaborations: Emanuele Cacci, Dept. of Biology and Biotechnology, Sapienza University (projects 1-4). Stefano Biagioni, Dept. of Biology and Biotechnology, Sapienza University (projects 1-4). Rodolfo Negri, Dept. of Biology and Biotechnology, Sapienza University (projects 1-3). Kunimasa Ohta, Kumamoto University, Japan (project 2). Paola Bovolenta, Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain (project 4).
