Dr. Giorgia La Barbera is PhD student at the Chemistry Department of University of Rome “La Sapienza” since November 2014. She obtained her Bachelor Degree in Chemistry with a final score of 110/110 cum laude in 2011. She obtained her Master Degree in Chemistry (Specialization in Biological Systems) with a final score of 110/110 cum laude in 2013. During her internship she worked for three months in the Laboratory for Fluorescence Dynamics in the Biomedical Engineering Department of the University of California, Irvine, USA. During 2014 she worked as researcher in the Nanodelivery Lab in the Chemistry Department of University of Rome “La Sapienza”. In 2014 she won the award “Excellent graduated student for the 2012/2013 year”. In 2015 she was founded by the University of Rome “La Sapienza” with 2000 € for the project “Core-shell polydopamine magnetic nanoparticles as sorbent in u-dSPE for the determination of natural free and conjugated estrogenic compounds in milk and dairy samples”. She attended the 7th Max Quant Summer School 2015” (29/06/2015) at Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (Martinsried, Germany). She also attended three national conferences in Rome (Separation Science meeting, 12/12/2014, “Convegno Giovani” 16/06/2014) and in Trieste (XXV Congress of Analytical Chemistry Division of Italian Chemical Society, 13/09/2015) where she presented 11 poster communications. Her research activity mainly deals with the food quality, by development of highly sensitive and reliable analytical methodologies based on high performance liquid chromatography coupled to high resolution mass spectrometry for the determination of substances present in various matrices. In particular, she works on measuring different polyphenol classes in plants. Her researches are also focused on proteomics analysis and differential protein expression profiling in plant and animal samples and on proteomics applied to the field of nanomedicine. She is coauthor of seven submitted papers.
