Furnaces for the Firing of Porcelain

Le figure 1, 2 e 3 illustrano il forno Thoma per la produzione di porcellane. Sono rispettivamente la sezione, la pianta ed un particolare delle fornaci B. La figura 4 rappresenta la capsula usata per contenere i piatti di porcellana durante la cottura. Questa avveniva nella camera A, caricata da a. La camera C ed E erano la camera di raffreddamen- to, di essicamento.                    

La figura 5 rappresenta il forno Kesseler per la produzione di terrecotte. I pezzi venivano caricati da h; s era la fornace.

Figures 1, 2 and 3 show the Thoma furnace for the production of porcelain. They are respectively the vertical cross-section, the horizontal cross-section, and a detail of the furnaces B. Figure 4 shows the container used to hold the porcelain plates during firing, which took place in chamber A, and which was loaded from a. Chambers C and E were the cooling and desiccating chambers respectively.

Figure 5 shows the Kesseler furnace used for the production of terracotta. The pieces were loaded from h; “s” was the furnace.
